Michelin Autocross –Wednesday and Thursday, June 24 and 25

Update 6/14/15:

The Autocross will be held at nearby French Lick Municipal Airport, 6 miles from the French Lick Springs Hotel with a 9 minute travel time to the site. Add another mile and 2 more minutes travel time from the West Baden Springs Hotel. Once again, it is scheduled for two days, giving plenty of time for all who want to participate.

We have more than 3,000’ feet of the 100’ wide main runway on which to lay out the autocross course! The surface appears to be newer asphalt, but we will be the first to autocross on the site, so the grip level is uncertain. In order to ensure a fun time for the many less experienced entrants that attend Parade, the course will emphasize flow and higher average speed, and it should be easier to stay oriented given that the site is long and narrow. Watch the Parade web site for comments on the course and site conditions after the course layout and safety test at the end of March.

Set aside 4:30 to 5:30 pm on Monday, June 22 for the Autocross Chalk Talk. There will be analysis and video of the course and a chance to learn tips and techniques. Especially important for less experienced participants, don’t forget the opportunity to walk and study the course on Tuesday, June 17, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm with an instructor-led portion from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The course is also open on Wednesday, June 24, from 7:30 to 8:30 am and 4:00 to 5:00 pm, and Thursday, June 25, from 7:30 to 8:30 am.

All Porsches entered in the autocross must pass the Parade Safety Technical Inspection. Check the Parade schedule for time and place.

Registered Junior Participation Program (JPP) members and College Age Family Program (CAFP) members with a valid driver’s license may participate in the autocross in the same Porsche and same class as the parent(s).

The run schedule for the autocross will be all Showroom Stock cars (S01 through S12) and the first two Production category cars (P01 and P02) running on Wednesday with the balance of the Production category (P03 through P16) along with all Improved and Modified classes running on Thursday.

Study the PCRs (Parade Competition Rules) to determine the proper autocross class to enter. There are separate classes for men and for women, so be careful to choose appropriately. Note that P classes now have the same 140 tread wear rating requirements of the S classes this year. Contact the Parade Autocross Chair ( if you have questions, but remember that it is your responsibility to correctly classify your Porsche.
